    Small quantities available for collection.

Keep rolled turf wet by covering with damp sacks or carpet.

Always water the newly laid turf within 15 minutes of laying it.

Have the hose and sprinkler ready before you begin to turf; this will greatly increase the reaction time to water as soon as a big enough area is laid.

Spring/summer turf must be unrolled out immediately and within 24 hours in
    autumn/winter

The worst time to lay turf is when it's hot (85 F, 29 C) with a wind; the delicate turf roots are cooked at this temperature.

    Preparation

You need a minimum soil depth of 100mm (4"), ideally 150mm (6"). The soil should be turned over, and free from surface stone, other debris and perennial weeds. Digging over or rotovating the existing soil is important to break up any compaction.

Your new Medallion turf will grow best when your soil is well prepared to encourage deep, rapid rooting. Adding a Rolawn topsoil is an ideal way to enhance poor soil.

  • Now what?

    Now what?

    Laying the turf

Start laying from one edge and work forward, laying a board over the first row to stand on. Move the board to the second row and so on. Stagger joints like brickwork and press each turf firmly against the preceding one. Allow an overhang round the edges of the lawn - this can be cut off if necessary once the lawn has established. Sweep the lawn thoroughly to remove any debris. Water thoroughly, preferably with a sprinkler.

    Care

Never let the turf dry out as this will cause shrinkage. Leave at least 3-5 days before mowing, and then only with the blades 25mm high. Turf laid in autumn or early winter may not need mowing until spring, but can be mown in mild periods. If there is any shrinkage, fill the cracks with a mix of sand and peat or potting compost.
